HEiKA Board of Directors elects new Executive Directors

HEiKA Research Bridges: Prof. Dr. Michael Mastalerz (Uni HD) and Prof. Dr. Marc Weber (KIT) are the new Executive Directors from January 2021.

HEiKA Research Bridges is led by a Board of Directors, in which each research bridge is equally represented by two scientists - one from the KIT and the other from the Heidelberg University.

The Board of Directors is represented by an Executive Director and his/her Deputy for a two-year term.

Executive Director from 2021

Michael Mastalerz is a professor at the Institute of Organic Chemistry at Heidelberg University. His main research interests are:

  • Porous Molecules and Materials by Dynamic Covalent Bond Formation
  • Crystal Engineering and Self-Assembling
  • Supramolecular Chemistry
  • Nonplanar Extended Aromatic Molecules
  • Development of New Synthetic Methods

Prof. Mastalerz joint the HEiKA Board of Directors in July 2016 as a director for the research bridge Functional Materials (FM).

Deputy Executive Director from 2021

Marc Weber is head of the Division V.
The Division V comprises research, teaching, and innovation in Physics and Mathematics.

Prof. Weber joint the HEiKA Board of Directors in March 2017 as a director for the research bridge Particle Physics, Astroparticle Physics and Cosmology (PAC).
