One stage, three minutes, a jury of experts, your idea and the chance to compete at the international Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin:
Falling Walls Lab Baden-Württemberg on July 10th, 2024 in Stuttgart at the Arena2036.

On July 10, eleven scientists presented their research-based innovations in 3-minute pitches on the Falling Walls Lab stage in front of an interdisciplinary jury of experts. The jury, consisting of Amrei Bahr (University of Stuttgart), Michael Baus (Robert Bosch GmbH), Barbara Bruno (KIT), Giso Hahn (University of Konstanz) and Ana Martin-Villalba (DKFZ), was impressed by the high quality of the presentations and, after an in-depth discussion, selected the following as winners:

  • 1st prize: Julius M. Kernbach, University Hospital Heidelberg
    for his breakthrough in the fight against invisible brain cancer
  • 2nd prize: Andra-Lisa M. Hoyt, University of Konstanz
    for her breakthrough in the remineralization of stones to preserve cultural heritage
  • 3rd prize: Kian van der Enden, Delft University
    for his breakthrough in scalable quantum networks
  • Audience Award: Tiffany Cheng, University of Stuttgart
    for her breakthrough in bio-inspired buildings

The first place winner Julius Kernbach as well as the second place winner Andra Hoyt will have the chance to represent Baden-Württemberg at the Falling Walls Foundation Science Summit in Berlin in November, where they will be named "Science Breakthrough of the Year".
